Heart Baby Bib - Crochet

 Crochet Heart Bib



hdc = half double crochet
sc = single crochet
ss = slip stitch
ch = chain

Materials:

size I hook
Cotton Yarn - medium thick - like Handicrafter or Peaches & Cream  1 color for body and a small amount for edge and straps.

start with main color

Row 1)chain 3 (counts as first hdc), 2 more hdc in loop (3 stitches)  pull ring, but not super tight yet.  It gets secured after the edging is applied.
Row 2) ch3 hdc same stitch, hdc, 2 hdc last stitch   /5 stitches/
Row 3) Ch3 hdc same stitch, hdc, hdc, 2 hdc last stitch /7 stitches/
Rows 4 - 10 keep increasing with 2 hdc in first and last stitch until there are 21 stitches
Row 11 - 14) ch 3 (counts as first hdc) hdc across

Start Lobes

Lobe1
1) ch3 (1st hdc) hdc in next 10 stitches
2) hdc2tog, hdc across to last 2 stitches, hdc2tog
3 & 4 - repeat row 2 - 4 stitches left, fasten off

2nd lobe
attach yarn to middle of the heart, skipping one stitch from edge of first row.
repeat lobe 1

fasten off.

Switch to contrast yarn for edging

attach yarn to left of bottom point.
1 sc in each side stitch up side to the last row.  
3 sc in last stitch and first stitch of top 4, 
1 sc, chain 26 for tie. 
Slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook and back down to heart. 
sc in next stitch, 
3 sc in last stitch of top 4,
3 sc in first stitch of side
1 sc in each side stitch down to stitch skipped between lobes
1 sc in that stitch
1 sc in each side stitch back up to top of second lobe
3 sc in last stitch and first stitch of top 4, 
1 sc, chain 26 for tie. 
Slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook and back down to heart. 
sc in next stitch, 
3 sc in last stitch of top 4,
3 sc in first stitch of side
1 sc in each side stitch
3 sc in bottom point, back part of sliding ring - pull ring tight
slip stitch to first sc to join
fasten off and weave in ends.
